Jeb Bush Makes His Presidential Candidacy Official

by Stephen Lendman

Jeb Bush wants to be president. Why ordinary Americans would want him they'll have to explain.

Hugo Chavez called George Bush "the devil" who thinks he's "the owner of the world." It runs in the family.

All politicians lie. Ignore what Bush says. Understand what he'll do if elected.

He'll continue the same destructive policies wrecking mainstream America to enrich the privileged few he represents more than already - an agenda of endless wars, corporate empowerment, handouts and grand theft without accountability along with police state crackdowns on nonbelievers.

America's gulag (at home and abroad) is filled with political prisoners. Its war on humanity risks world peace. It's the same whether Republicans or Democrats run Washington. They're all part of the same dirty system.

Obama broke every major promise made. He pledged peace. He delivered endless wars. He promised change you can believe in. Business as usual is worse than ever. Monied interests never had it so good.

Obama handed America's wealth to Wall Street crooks and other corporate favorites. He hardened GW Bush's police state apparatus.

He targeted more whisleblowers of government wrongdoing than all his predecessors combined. He's waged war on fundamental freedoms throughout his tenure.

He's a serial liar on all issues mattering most. He thirdworldized America more than already. He pretends economic recovery arrived on his watch while protracted Main Street Depression conditions affect growing millions.

When poverty is a growth industry. When homelessness and hunger affect the nation’s most disadvantaged in the world’s richest country. When millions of working-age Americans can't find jobs. When most good ones keep going overseas to low-wage countries.

When available ones are rotten low-pay, poor-or-no-benefit ones. When America more than ever is unfit to live in - one major 9/11-style false flag attack away from losing constitutional protections altogether under martial law conditions.

Think Jeb Bush will improve things? Or Hillary Clinton? Think again. America is morally and ethically bankrupt. It's lawless and ruthless. It’s the world’s greatest human rights abuser on a global scale.

It's been on a downward trajectory for decades - especially post-9/11. The gloves came off. Anything goes extrajudicially became official policy.

Obama's presidency exceeded the worst of George Bush. Whether Jeb, Hillary or another duopoly aspirant succeeds him, expect worse than ever policies. Expect bipartisan lunatics running Congress. Expect possible WW III and full-blown homeland tyranny.

America is a one-party state with two wings. They're in lockstep on all major issues mattering most - regardless of who's standard-bearer in the top job or key congressional posts.

Political speeches always feature duplicitous demagoguery - especially when announcing "I am a candidate for president of the United States."

"We will take command of our future once again in this country," said Bush. He didn't explain who'll benefit at the expense of all others.

"We will lift our sights again, make opportunity common again, get events in the world moving our way again."

"We will take Washington - the static capital of this dynamic country - out of the business of causing problems. We will get back on the side of free enterprise and free people."

All demagogues talk this way - saying one thing, doing another, making promises they won't keep. It happens every time.

As president, Bush will hand America over to Wall Street crooks, other corporate favorites and war profiteers more than already. He'll continue waging endless wars and destroying fundamental freedoms to finish what Obama leaves undone.

His notion of "limited government" is serving monied interests exclusively at the expense of beneficial social change.

Not a word in his speech about helping ordinary Americans most in need. About the nation's unprecedented wealth disparity. About a guaranteed living wage for all workers.

About opposing anti-consumer, anti-environment, jobs-killing trade bills no responsible societies would tolerate.

About lost social benefits vital to restore and improve. About respect for fundamental civil and human rights. About rescinding Patriot Act and other police state laws.

About ending torture as official US policy. About fighting to rid Washington of neocon lunatic rule. About supporting government of, by and for everyone equitably with legislation mandating it.

Bush is an elitist corporatist hawk like his brother and father. He’s no man of the people. As president, he'll do for America what he did to Florida as governor - prioritize business interests at the expense of popular ones.

He'll cut vital social services instead of increasing them - especially for America's most needy. When asked once what he'd do for African-Americans if elected Florida governor, he responded "probably nothing."

He's like all other duopoly power candidates: pro-war, pro-imperial dominance, pro-corporate empowerment and handouts, pro-bloated military budgets, pro-police state ruthlessness and pro-neoliberal harshness.

At the same time, anti-populist, anti-organized labor, anti-social justice, anti-peace and stability, anti-fundamental freedoms too important to lose and anti-government serving everyone equitably.

Monied interests run America. Duopoly power serves them. Elections are farcical when held. Business as usual triumphs like always.
