Thank you Captain Zeason!

Our father Alonzo (Al) Eduardo Garcia died last month and it crushed our family because he was only 54. Everyone was in shock like all my brothers and sisters but especially my mom. We don't have any insurance and none of us are rich and because dad loved to fish and the ocean we had him cremated so we could lay him to rest in the sea.

We weren't sure what to do next and figured that between us all that we would do it one day, but me and my girlfriend met a guy named Joe at the hamburger place in Ports of Call in San Pedro and after talking to him for a little bit, he said not to worry about it and that we would get your dad home. I thought, yeah right, but it turns out that he is a sea Captain and has a pretty big boat. Three days later he had my family come down to his boat and took all 7 of us out to Horseshoe Kelp where my dad liked to fish and then we spread his ashes in the Pacific. He even marked the location on the computer so we know exactly where dad is.

It was pretty emotional for everyone but now it is done. We tried to give him some money for fuel and he didn't take it. Me and my family still can't believe how it all happened and are grateful that a white boat Captain didn't care that we were Mexican and only told us that the Brotherhood of the Sea is Blue...just like the Dodgers! And we all laughed, so I just want to say that racism isn't everywhere and the news only puts out the bad. We know different and on behalf of my family I would like to thank Captain Joe Zeason for allowing us to put my dad to rest. Gracias El Capitan, graicias.

Al Garcia, Jr.
