Black History Month Community Meeting
Come strategize around critical issues of race and resistance. Dynamic speakers will kick off an open conversation on how to sustain a movement against police violence and address poverty, jobs, gentrification and schools.
Lawrencia Colding: Actor and performance artist; Black community activist who campaigned for gay marriage rights; vocal participant in organizing for civilian control over the police.
Sikivu Hutchinson: Educator; founder of the Women’s Leadership Project (WLP), a high school feminist mentoring program in South Los Angeles; and a contributing editor for The Feminist Wire.
Duciana Thomas: Co-convener of Sisterhood and Solidarity, a multiracial discussion group; Bay Area Coordinator, Comrades of Color Caucus of RW and FSP; and an activist against police abuse.
The public discussion will be held on Thursday, February 26, 7pm at Solidarity Hall, 2122 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles.
A Chili supper will be served at 6:30 pm before the program for a donation. Work exchanges are available. To arrange childcare, call three days ahead. Solidarity Hall is wheelchair accessible
