Dirt Dog

Dirt Dog, building a stronger LA community through LA street food.

Hello,

I am an anarchist organizer from Los Angeles. A member of an anarchist collective known as the Free Association of Anarchists. I would like to speak about a project that I have been working on for a while. The project is a new business concept in LA, Dirt Dog.

Dirt Dog is a new business concept that specializes in the Los Angeles street food. We love Los Angeles and so it is built into our concept to use 10% of the profits to fund projects and events that will be proposed and voted on by the community. We aren’t writing checks, we will be working with the community to execute the event which will not come from us, but rather proposed by the community and voted on through every purchase.

We will also have coupons that will donate 10% of profits to a charity of your choice from the list of charities we work with. As we all know some charities aren’t really working with the community. We are working with charities that are directly working and impacting the LA community.

I hope that this is something that may be of interest to you as we hope to get some support and participation for the community aspect of the concept.

Our website is dirtdogla.com. Like us on FaceBook and follow us on Twitter.

Thanks.

"helping the community" - GET CANCER

by crazy_inventor Friday, Aug. 01, 2014 at 7:29 PM

"helping the co...

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is responsible for the message, which was posted Tuesday.

"We used to think smoking wouldn't harm us… and we hope to see that hot dogs pick up that type of stigma to it because it is so unhealthy for you," said Crystal Petrello, a Las Vegas dietician and local spokesperson for PCRM.

The group cites information from the American Institute for Cancer Research, which found that one daily serving of processed meat increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 21 percent.

When asked if a hot dog is the worst food a person could eat, Petrello quickly responded: "Yes."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

posting commercial advertisements is a violation of IMC's charter, "bacon wrapped butt cancer" , "deep fried heart attack" and the other extremely unhealthy foods featured on your commercial website are a funny way to "help the community"

are you a moron?

by What an Idiot Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at 9:07 PM

this thread had never even mentioned "hot dogs".
Who is this fool who must think he is some kind of life critic?
Where he can't even read the thread he is going off on?
"crazy_inventor" probably thinks he is some great intellect and judge.
What an idiot.

I cut some slack

by johnk Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at 7:28 PM

I cut the quasi-ad some slack because of the poster's affiliation, and the fact they're doing the "responsible business" angle, and that it's a small operation, like mom and pop level. Normally, I wouldn't have kept it up.

I didn't push it into the "local" part even though it's in LA, for the same reasons. Normally, we should be more hard-line against ads, but I am not 100% on the idea that every single business is a tool of capitalism. There are, and have always been, businesses in the progressive community, but we don't promote them because we can't do commercial things. The typical way they can promote themselves is to host an event and post it into the calendar.

I wish that hot dog shops sold veggie dogs, like field roast, which i think is good. Overall, I can't really eat off this company's menu. I never thought I'd say it, but some of these new hip restaurants are less compatible with vegetarian diets than the ethnic restaurants.

not only is it a commercial ad

by crazy_inventor Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at 8:53 PM

not only is it a com...
hot-dogs.jpg, image/jpeg, 800x800

_everything_ featured on their landing page is unhealthy

what they call 'street food' I call garbage.

when beef ad's are played here by shit channel, I play the mad cow disease song, when chicken ad's are played, I air several clips about how arsenic is added to chicken feed and that it causes cancer.

when power company ad's are played I air clips exposing their spy hours scam - how it's only to price you out of peak demand so they can burn filthy dirty coal as much as possible, including telling people they charge 46 cents per kWh for electricity that costs them 2.83 cents per kWh.

followed by clips talking about the mercury and smog that coal-fired plants emit, the effects of mercury on children and fetuses, how US geological survey tests found every stream and lake in CONUS contaminated with mercury, how we all have mercury in our bodies because of it., how they're in violation of the clean water act due to thier un-lined ash ponds leaking into the groundwater

a few years ago they were running ad's here on shit channel for tobacco which congress outlawed in 1986

..I ran clips informing people of that fact

I also run clips exposing state farm, exxon, BP and anytime they play political smear ad's I run clips exposing how their loan guarantees are held by too-big-to-jail bankster crooks

along with clips exposing 'feeding bank of america' (BoA is feeding america's main sponser), and any pro-war PSA's - I run clips directly calling them war cock sucking war criminals (exact words)

..and so on

I also go after home depo, staples, walmart, (any big box store but them especially) and any local business - I inform they should be ashamed to be advertising on shit channel and tell people to boycott them.

along with coca cola (funded death squads, big israhell fister- mercury in corn syrup)

hertz car rental (israhell fister)

car dealers (I play clips making fun of them, expose them during community affairs for channel stuffing, NINJA loans and other dirt)

I cuss out car dealers personally, cuss out the half-ass DJ they have left (4 hours a day mon-to fri) and anytime we get rain on the weekend I air live weather alerts then expose them for not having anyone at the studio all weekend, followed by specific cases (an ammonia spill, a live concert event where they had stale pre-recorded weather forecasts, there was heavy rain overnight and they made $ 15 per car parking them on a flood plain - the musicians played for free - which then flooded totalling many people's cars (some were completely submerged) then they promised to pay the towing bill, then stiffed the city for it, the city had to sue them to recover the loss.

I also expose how they were fined $43 million over their payola scam but are still doing it (which they call 'partnered artists' now)

how their contests and promotions are scams (the florida state attorney and the FCC went after them for it - they're still doing it but getting by with it by telling people to go to their website to see the fineprint which gives away the scam - you're the 9'th or 11'th caller competing against people all over the country not just a local station/market so your chances of winning is minuscule)

I make fun of them too "hey, we'll PAY you to listen to our shitty stations" (exact phrase on-air)

I also expose their fake voice-tracked DJ's and syndication - I tell people how they're only 16 % real radio - that 84 % of the time they're fake voice-tracked, including all weekend

I've been broadcasting here for 16 years..

they've made a few moves against me, one of the other local radio clusters stole my channel (93.1) by applying for a translator license for it - just stong enough to cover up my signal, so I moved that transmitter to another frequency

they then came to where the transmitter was and complained about the new frequency I moved it to

they informed the landlord who then sent a city inspector he knows personally to harass me (we moved and don't have a landlord anymore - we're buying a house)

and someone connected to them went around recording one of my signals (the 93.1) while driving around town and posted youtube videos of it, complaining about it calling me 'vulgar' (which is true I *am* vulgar on the air)

all in the space of a few months, right after I ran clips telling people to submit complaints on their license renewal application which was coming up after 5 years

I also ran clips exposing their outdoor advertising business (billboards - calling them visual pollution - a few of the clips are from LA where a few city council members are fighting them BTW)

I guess you should be glad you don't have stations like mine there in LA ;)
