Palos Verdes, CA August 16, 2012 – Open Orchard Productions (www.openorchardproductions.org) launched its website this week laying a foundation for a regular distribution of podcasts. The new website, programmed by Daniel Feldman, will serve as the hub for all of the podcast’s content, updates, merchandise, and donations. Podcasts will also be downloadable through iTunes. The Core, Open Orchard Productions’ first series of podcasts, focuses on teens interviewing teens about their own true, personal stories. The first three episodes encompass gang life, bulimia, and the challenge of completing a half-Ironman. Interviewees remain anonymous, which encourages the divulgence of deeper emotions. A cross-section of teens from across Southern California are represented which reflects the varied experiences of different ethnic and socio-economic groups. By reflecting the differences and similarities that exist between us all, the podcast aims at breaking down barriers and revealing truth. Open Orchard Productions is a not-for-profit organization and has already received monetary and service contributions. All the music that is featured within The Core’s podcasts was written and performed by Deborah Wicks La Puma (www.crunchynotes.com) All the contributors to the website and podcasts are teenagers who have worked for 6 months under the direction of teacher and former documentarian Cynthia Damon. “These are the most responsible and hard-working kids I know and I’m privileged to help them with this project.” Producers, journalists, and designers include Daniel Feldman, Rosie La Puma, Ashley Overbeek, Connor Parker, and Kimmy Rich. “Although we’ve only just launched our website, we dream big,” says Founder and Producer of The Core Rosie La Puma. Open Orchard Productions will be rolling out two new sections in the next 6 months – one devoted to the influencers among us and one devoted to the arts.
