On November 30th, 2011, The Los Angeles Police Department, by order of Mayor Villaraigosa, cleared the tent city on the South lawn of City Hall. More than 1400 police were present to arrest any occupiers defiant of a dispersal announcement given upon the LAPD's arrival. A final standoff between occupiers and police ended peacefully at the intersection of Los Angeles and 1st street. Nearly 300 occupiers were arrested with only few reports of minor injuries. The event ended peacefully.
