After six weeks of rapid expansion to cities and towns across the U.S., activists participating in the Occupy Wall Street movement witnessed some of the worst police violence on Oct. 25, when Oakland police reportedly used flash grenades, rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse hundreds of mostly peaceful protesters exercising their right of free speech at an encampment near City Hall. In the midst of the Oakland clashes, former Marine and Iraq War veteran Scott Olsen sustained a skull fracture when he was shot in the head by an unknown police projectile.
