The Los Angeles Media Justice Academy is co-sponsored by IDEPSCA (new LA chapter anchor), MAG-Net, and CMJ taking place on Thursday, November 17th from 10am-4pm at the California Endowment. The training will feature communications 101 training, a hands-on mobile storytelling workshop, and media justice landscaping. This event is a part of a larger effort to build a strong LA MAG-Net chapter.
The Media Action Grassroots Network (www.mag-net.org), a signature project of the Center for Media Justice (CMJ). The Media Action Grassroots Network (MAG-Net) is a local-to-local advocacy network of grassroots community organizations working together for media change to end poverty, eliminate racism, and ensure human rights. With over 100 member groups nationwide, regional chapters, an online action network, a media justice learning community, and collaborative campaigns- MAG-Net is advancing an exciting new vision for media justice. We need to stay vigilant and be ready to take action on these different media justice and policy issues that affect our communities.
IDEPSCA is the anchor organization for the newly found LA Chapter of MAG-Net. As we build the LA Chapter we are really trying to target social justice and community groups who are already doing frontline organizing and advocacy work in LA and are interested in supporting media justice issues.
