With dire warnings from economists about an imploding economy, and threats by ratings agencies Moody’s and Standard and Poor's to downgrade Washington’s sterling credit rating, the White House and Congress have not yet negotiated a deal to raise the federal government’s .3 trillion debt ceiling. With less than two weeks left before the Aug. 2 deadline, President Obama expressed hope that an agreement would be reached to raise the debt ceiling in time.
