27,000 Veterans’ Claims Denied

The resolution was passed through the efforts of Veterans Commissioner Regalado Baldonado of San Francisco who is a veterans. Although he was a veterans, his claim to the lump sum was denied. The DVA reasoned out that he was not on the “ Missouri List”.

More than 27,000 Filipino veterans were denied claims because their names were not listed on the Missouri list or the National Personnel Records in St. Louis Missouri National Archives.

The so-called “Missouri List” was burned down in 1972 and 17 million record were gutted by fire. The List includes veterans names from 1926-to 1962. The DVA refused to admist any records besides the “Missouri List” to expedite Filipino veterans claims.
