U.S. Election 2012- Stewart Alexander Says Obama Could Lose in 2012

In an article that was written this week by Billy Wharton, Co-Chair Socialist Party USA, Mr. Wharton writes, “Simultaneously, voters should consider withdrawing their support from President Obama when re-election time comes. Obama has time and time again proven willing to use the war machine in a way that is every bit as ruthless as his predecessor. A Socialist Party USA candidate for the White House will place the dismantlement of the military industrial complex on the top of their campaign agenda. We will present a real candidate of peace.”

After ordering U.S. Navy Seals to engage in a top secret mission that would end the life of Osama Bin Laden, President Barack Obama once again became America’s hero among the poor, the homeless, the jobless, among our children and seniors. However, in the midst of all the celebration, U.S. Presidential Candidate Stewart Alexander says “Obama could lose the presidency in 2012.”

Ending the life of Osama Bin Laden was a moment in the sun for President Obama; however, Stewart Alexander says “There are many dark clouds over the nation and over Obama’s presidency and by November 2012, President Obama will be faced with monumental challenges.”

The most serious challenge facing President Obama is the U.S. economy. President Obama has been in office for more than two years and unemployment has remained high; by conservative estimates, more than 18 million American are unemployed and U.S. wages have declined. More than 55 percent of U.S. workers are under-employed.

The housing market has also failed to rebound and many working families are still facing bank foreclosure. The housing market has failed to rebound due to the sagging job market. U.S. banks have received hundreds of billions from the U.S. government; however, banks have been reluctant to extend credit to help stabilize the economy, to assist homeowners or to create jobs. President Obama has failed to create policy that will ease U.S. money markets and to free up credit.

Alexander has also charged that President Obama has failed on his promise to create shovel ready jobs; “The U.S. construction industry is on the verge of collapse.” The U.S. housing industry has seen the lost of millions of good paying jobs and manufacturing jobs have continued to move off shore at a greater pace.

In 2010, President Obama signed into law the new Health Care Law, H.R. 3590. The Health Care Law has already begun increasing the health care cost for millions of Americans. Within the next decade, many experts are saying Obama’s Health Care Plan will cost the nation more than .5 trillion. Alexander says the Health Care Law will require cuts in other government programs, such as Medicare and many public services that provide for the seniors, children and low income families.

President Obama has also failed to deal with the nation’s expanding debt that is expected to exceed trillion by 2012. The president has failed to address huge government subsidies to big corporations, banks and the oil companies. The Federal Reserve and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke are spending hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars with little or no Congressional oversight.

However, Alexander says fighting two wars and the cost of expanding U.S. imperialism could cost President Obama in 2012. President Obama was elected into office on a promise to end the wars and to bring our troops home. Today, the U.S. has 50,000 troops stationed in Iraq and more than 130,000 troops in Afghanistan. The U.S. has lost more than 6,000 brave women and men to these two wars, and more than one millions civilian lives have been lost. “Not fulfilling his promise to end the wars has been Obama’s greatest failure.”

In an article that was written this week by Billy Wharton, Co-Chair Socialist Party USA (The Cost of Finding Osama), Mr. Wharton writes, “At last count, almost .2 trillion has been spent on invading Iraq and Afghanistan. These public funds could have been used to provide 55 million children with healthcare. Or to give out 13 million one-year university scholarships. Or to add 1.6 million elementary teachers per year to our schools. Unfortunately, in this moment of economic crisis and budget cutting, the military and the war profiteering it produces remain a significant drain on public funds. Nearly half of the entire Federal Budget is now spent on the military industrial complex. This only serves to deepen the economic inequalities in American society and poison relations between Americans and people throughout the world.”

When taking everything into consideration, Alexander says it is highly unlike that any Republican presidential candidate will unseat President Obama in 2012. Most American voters view the Republicans candidates as the reverse side of the same coin and no Republican presidential contender has produced a viable platform for change. All of the Republican presidential candidates support maintaining U.S. military spending at the current levels, while making drastic cuts in many social programs that will help the poor, homeless, seniors and our children.

In his article, Billy Wharton write, “Simultaneously, voters should consider withdrawing their support from President Obama when re-election time comes. Obama has time and time again proven willing to use the war machine in a way that is every bit as ruthless as his predecessor. A Socialist Party USA candidate for the White House will place the dismantlement of the military industrial complex on the top of their campaign agenda. We will present a real candidate of peace.”
