Obama's Staff Shake-Up Signals Less Hope, Less Change

Interview with David Lindorff, journalist and author, conducted by Scott Harris

In the aftermath of the Democrats' mid-term election loss of the House and a weakening on their majority in the Senate, President Obama announced a shake-up in his White House staff during the first week of the New Year. William Daley was named Obama's new chief of staff, replacing Rahm Emanuel. Gene Sperling, a key player in the negotiations that extended the Bush era tax cuts for the wealthy, will replace Lawrence Summers to become director of the National Economic Council, the same position he held under President Bill Clinton.
