U.S. Election 2012: Stewart Alexander Targets Health Care Law

by Stephen Clarke Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at 9:11 AM

Stewart Alexander, a U.S. Presidential Candidate for 2012, says the Republicans don’t get it; Americans want the health care law repealed; the entire bill. “I am running on an anti-Obama-care ticket. Working people want the health care bill repealed. Now the Republican members in Congress have less than two years to get the job done.”

It has only been two weeks since Americans went to the polls giving the Republican Party control of the House; the Republican victories were largely credited to their call for a repeal of President Obama’s health care law. Now that the election is over, some Republican members in Congress are saying they want some parts of the health care law repealed.

Stewart Alexander, a U.S. Presidential Candidate for 2012, says “The Republicans don’t get it; Americans want the health care law repealed; the entire bill. Millions of Americans voted Republican, to include millions of independents as repudiation to the health care law; only second to President Obama’s economic policies.”

Before the election, Republicans voiced their message loud and clear to repeal the health care law and fix the economy. That message gave Republicans an impressive victory, winning more than 60 new seats in the House, the most impressive election wins for the Republican Party in more than six decades. The shout to repeal Obama-care also helped Republicans gain control of 19 state legislative bodies; now holding the highest level of state legislative seats in 82 years.

Republican candidates enjoyed strong voter support with a mandate to go to Washington, fix the economy, create jobs and repeal the health care law. Approaching the Mid-Term Election, polls showed that 78 percent of all Americans were opposed to Obama’s health care law. The vast majority of Americans believe the cost of the new health care law has been greatly under estimated and more than 95 percent of all voters believe the 2,000 plus page law is too complicated to understand.

Alexander has maintained that the health care bill will be a tax on working people and will provide the greatest benefits for the insurance industry. Alexander also notes that the cost for Obama’s health bill has been greatly under-estimated; “I believe this health care program will cost taxpayers trillions of dollars and will not provide adequate health care coverage for all. However, the bottom line is, I do not believe the Constitution give the government the right to force the people to buy health insurance.”

During the month of June, while running as a candidate for California governor, Alexander was sharply critical of California Attorney General Jerry Brown, and now Governor Elect (D-CA) for not joining with 19 other state attorneys generals in a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. government. The lawsuit challenges the constitutionally of the health care bill which requires most Americans to have an insurance plan or else be fined by the federal government. The lawsuit reads, “The Constitution nowhere authorizes the United States to mandate, either directly or under threat of penalty, that all citizens and legal residents have qualifying health care coverage.”

Stewart Alexander says there is no compromise on the health care law. “I am running on an anti-Obama-care ticket. Working people want the health care bill repealed. Now the Republican members in Congress have less than two years to get the job done.”
