The US's first and only memorial to ongoing wars is almost complete in Irvine, CA.
The first and only memorial ever constructed to ongoing wars is almost complete in Irvine, CA. The memorial, which will contain names of the US dead military from Iraq and AfPak wars, will have space for 8000 names. More than half those space are used up as completion nears in Fall 2010. The memorial will be updated yearly with new names of the dead.
The dark granite pillars border a formerly cheery children's park at the corner of Bryan and Yale.
