http://www.shakeout.org The artistic and business community living in Downtown Los Angeles can and should be prepared to help their fellow neighbors in the event of a disaster. In the event of a major earthquake occurring in Southern California, Emergency Services will be swamped with calls for help.
Cultural workers from every field should become CERT trained. Art has the ability to mobilize a community more than most - the trained also become the trainers! The goal on Oct. 16 at Pershing Square is to get 20-25 people living in Downtown LA to sign up and become CERT trained. Courses are 2.5 hr sessions spread over seven weeks and are FREE.
