Firefight: BP agents fired upon on U.S. Mexican border

NOGALES - U.S. Border Patrol agents exchanged gunfire with what's believed to be Mexican Drug Cartel Los Zetas paramilitary unit near the Nogales border this weekend, but none of the agents or Zetas were hurt in this fire fight. A Los Zetas commander last April threatened to shoot any Americans found armed in the deserts of Arizona.

It happened Sunday about 5 miles north of the border. According to Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada the agents were in Bellota Canyon. He says three or four men began firing at the agents. The agents returned fire, but don't believe any of the armed men were injured.

Sheriff Estrada said Border Patrol rushed it's special response team to the area but the heavily armed shooters have not been found and believed to have retreated across the border into Mexico.

Inside sources say the illegal aliens were smuggling drugs and were armed with AK-47s. Once the Border Patrol arrived on the scene the illegals fired their weapons and BP agents returned fire. There were no injuries reported.
Nogales Border Patrol spokesperson, Mario Escalante said the incident is under investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is looking into the confrontation. “The shooting incident happened, but it is still part of an ongoing investigation so I can not provided further details that could hinder our inquiry into the matter,” Escalante said.

The Zetas were reported recently to have advanced north with well trained and well armed Los Zetas paramilitary solders. They will be transporting drugs and illegal's along the drug corridors that lead into the USA and go as far north as Phoenix Ariz. These Zetas have said in the past they will be protecting their loads against all comers. One Zetas commander said he has ordered his men to fire on anyone they see who is armed. By attacking the U.S. Border Patrol unit while they were patrolling on the U.S. side of the international border in the Tucson sector leaves little question that the Zetas mean business and they have the weapons and man power to carry out their threats. This but one of many attacks on Americans on American soil in recent months.

The recently published report was a threat by a Mexican national who claimed to be an Los Zetas Mexican Drug cartel officer, who said “I now believe my men were shot by crazed American vigilante cowards, who ambushed my solders at night, shot them from a great distance using high powered American rifles. Than our load of drugs were stolen”. The Zetas say that attacks like this one is occurring frequently along the U.S. Mexican Border he said a Zetas patrol was ambushed by a large contingent of American vigilantes killing two of his solders and wounding three others.

Arizona Citizen Militia (ACM) reports on their web site that Operation Defiant Sentinel: tactical ground operations along our southern border are underway right now.
ACM Border County Units are conducting Search and Destroy operations against enemy Observation Posts
ACM units are also searching for Zetas weapons caches in the Arizona desert.

ACM commander says on their web site, “We are going to hunt the Zetas and destroy them like the vermin that
they are. This won't be just War, this will be Extermination.”

The Mexican Drug War is an armed conflict taking place between rival drug cartels and government forces in Mexico. This war has now evolved into a shooting war along the U.S. Mexican border and beyond into most states across the country. This war is being waged between the Mexican Drug cartels, Mexico gangs, American gangs, U.S. Law enforcement and American Militia groups. Although Mexican drug cartels, or drug trafficking organizations, have existed for a few decades, they have become more powerful since the demise of Colombia's Cali and Medellín cartels in the 1990s. Mexican drug cartels now dominate the complete wholesale illicit drug market in the United States. With more and more confrontations between the drug traffickers and the U.S. Militia groups where by at least one of those groups claim to have killed and wounded Mexican Drug Cartel smugglers trying to enter the United States. These fire fights are accruing on the border and up to 200 miles north of the border in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California.

More border confrontations are expected starting this weekend.

According to an spokesman for ACM, known only as "HammerDown": "The Arizona Citizens Militia will conduct a Leaders Reconnaissance along the Arizona border from 9 – 13 September. Leaders and representatives from state Militias all over the USA have been invited to accompany ACM patrols, to be conducted in the most dangerous parts of the Arizona border area.

This Leaders Recon is being conducted to familiarize the Leaders and Representatives from Militia groups outside of Arizona with the conditions and threats that should be expected in support of our ongoing border mission, Operation Defiant Sentinel.

Fox News has reported previously that US Border Patrol Agents have been ordered not to go to parts of our border that are considered “too dangerous”:

"This Leaders Recon, conducted by combined units of the ACM, will include operations in these same areas that our Border Patrol now considers “too dangerous” to allow their agents to patrol. This Recon will be conducted in full tactical posture. Anyone wishing to accompany our forces to the field must arrive prepared to endure a harsh tactical field environment.

Applications for an invitation to accompany the ACM Leaders Recon of the Arizona Border may be made to the ACM Headquarters’ Unit Coordinator “HammerDown”, by email to arizonamilitia@hushmail.com . All state Militia Units are invited to send their representatives to our Leaders Recon, and to our Fall Joint Mission, Operation Defiant Sentinel".
