FACLA Continues to Simmer with problems

Los Angeles- The EPCC NEWS gathered from news sources in Los Angeles that continued reshuffles had affected the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA) management and the current board of directors.

This stems from the latest news that FACLA has replaced Irbe Jamolod as FACLA manager. The EPCC NEWS as of the press time has not identified the replacement manager.

This is the fourth time since May 2010 that FACLA had a manager. The first manager after May 2009 elections was Sid Galace who stayed in transition. He was replaced by Clarita Julian until February 2010. Julian was forced out by FALCA president Meng Gatus. And then Irbe Jamolod took-over. Irbe Jamolod was a former FACLA utility man.

LA Court consolidates cases vs Gatus

Meanwhile the Superior Court –Central District had consolidated the cases against the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA) and its current president Gregorio “Meng’Gatus.

The two cases; Case No. BC425347 and Case No. BC435861 were consolidated in one case to be heard at the sala of Judge Michelle R. Rosenblatt. Formerly the two cases were at the court of another judge.

The cases stemmed from the organizational problems inside FACLA and animosities among its president and board of directors.

Frequent Reshuffles

EPCC NEWS observed that FACLA made at least three to four major organizational changes since FACLA President Gatus took-over in May 2009. Almost all the FACLA elected members have resigned or have been forced out by Gatus.

At present it has a new Board of Directors who were recently sworn in last April 25, 2010 by no less than vice consul general Dan Espiritu. At that time the court summons were served for the new board of directors.

Five duly elected FACLA board of directors including the First Vice President and the Executive Director and former staff members including the office manager filed the cases against FACLA and Mr. Gatus.

On the other hand, FACLA also filed a cross complaint against the complainants . That is the subject also of the case that were consolidated at the district 40 sala of Judge Rosenblatt.
