Hmmm... The assistant police chief has sex with his girlfriend in motels while he is supposed to be working. And he doesn't get fired for it! I guess when your being paid $146,071 a year in tax dollars there is nothing you can do wrong.

The assistant police chief is a double dipper and is probably being paid 80 percent of his salary he made as a cop in Tempe which he retired from. This piggy who was meeting his honey in hotels to have sex during work hour is probably being paid in excess of $200,000 a year when you combine his pay as a Chandler police chief and his Tempe police retirement pay. In Arizona cops can retire after working 10 years and get 80 percent of their highest pay.

Assistant Chandler police chief suspended 2 weeks in sex case

Assistant Chandler Police Chief Dave Lind has been suspended for two weeks without pay for engaging in a months-long extramarital affair that included sex at hotels during work hours.

According to a memo from Chief Sherry Kiyler produced in response to a public-records request, Lind was suspended June 7 "for conduct that might bring discredit to the city."

He will return to work Monday.

"Despite Chief Lind's overall excellent performance, this conduct, as acknowledged by him, is not acceptable or appropriate for any employee and more so, due to his rank and responsibility within the organization and city," Kiyler wrote.

"Your actions resulted in you leaving the office to meet her at various hotels, sometimes for up to two hours during your workday, for the purpose of facilitating the affair."

Records show the behavior of the married assistant chief was brought to the department's attention by an outside complaint related to an April 22 incident.

Details, including the name of his sex partner or the person who complained, were not made public. A phone message left at Lind's Chandler home was not returned Friday. Kiyler said in her memo that Lind engaged in the affair from August or September until April.

Lind, a former Tempe police officer who retired from that department two years ago, was hired as an assistant Chandler chief in December 2008. His annual salary is $146,071. An employee for the Arizona Public Safety Retirement System confirmed that he is also collecting a public-safety retirement pension.

Lind is the second Chandler police officer this year to come under fire for sexual conduct during work hours. In February, Lt. Shawn Hawkins resigned in the middle of the in- vestigation after a fellow employee accused him of "terrorizing" her and threatening to expose the salacious details of their relationship, which included having sex while at the police station.

The woman, administrative specialist Aurore Goga, also resigned in lieu of being fired after she told department administrators that the pair had sexual encounters in the lieutenant's office, the gym, the property and evidence building and in a secured equipment bay during work hours.

Two other officers resigned in December after they were both found to have mishandled investigations. One had been driving on a suspended license after receiving a DUI months earlier.
