3 Journalists attacked by police during Mayday 2007 Immigration march civil trial to begin 10 a.m. June 18, 2010 @ Dept 307 Los Angeles Superior Court.

The civil lawsuits of three L.A. based Latina journalists who were attacked and beaten by LAPD officers during the 2007 Mayday pro-immigration march will go to trial beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Dept. 307 of the Los Angeles Superior Court, Central Court West (6th and Commonwealth). The jury was selected today.

The three women are Christina Gonzalez and Patti Ballaz of Fox News and Patricia Nazario of KPCC FM radio. One of the officers being sued in the matter has twice been the subject of criminal court "Pitchess Motions," in which judges have deemed prior complaints against him to be relevant to his credibility. In spite of that, the City's lawyers intend to defend his claim that one of the reporters was supposedly carrying a sack of rocks for demonstrators to throw at the police to justify his attacking her.

It is imperative that activists attend this historic trial to observe whether justice is done or whether the City of Los Angeles gets away with another cover up of police misconduct.
