On the anniversary of the 112th Independence Day from Spanish colonialism, June 12, 1898, the Alliance-Philippines and its allies commemorated the day of struggle in different cities of the United States in different forms. From San Francisco in the north to Los Angles in the south, and from New York in the east to Chicago in the Midwest different groups allied with or allies of AJLPP commemorated June 12 with renewed strength.

AJLPP Forces Commemorates 112th Independence Day in the United States
Los Angeles- On the anniversary of the 112th Independence Day from Spanish colonialism, June 12, 1898, the Alliance-Philippines and its allies commemorated the day of struggle in different cities of the United States in different forms.
From San Francisco in the north to Los Angles in the south, and from New York in the east to Chicago in the Midwest different groups allied with or allies of AJLPP commemorated June 12 with renewed strength.
-- On June 6, in New York as an early commemoration of the event --a contingent of over 75 Filipino domestic workers, youth, women, children and LGBT of DAMAYAN Migrant Workers Association and Ugnayan ng mga Anak ng Bayan and its allies marched in the Philippine "Independence" Day Parade to assert that only the fight for real change can bring genuine independence.
The parade contingent was led by three Filipino youth who performed a flag dance in front of the thousands of Filipino Americans in the audience along the parade route. Following the dancers was the “Mini Makibaka Crew”, the newest generation of the Filipino American community consisting of second- and third-generation Filipino children aged 3-10. Some of the children’s mothers are domestic workers of DAMAYAN. They also wowed the crowd with a militant flag dance.
--On June 11--In San Francisco, the Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) and AWARE held a meeting to launch a petition campaign for lifetime pensions of veterans and benefits for the widows and legal heirs. The meeting was beamed by telecast at TFC Balitang America.
--On June 12, the KmB participated at the Carson Independence Day Fair at the Veterans Park in Moneta and23rd St. The KmB exhibited and gave out revolutionary comics and had a raffle.
Meanwhile in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles -- at another event, JFAV veterans attended the program at FACLA and were honored by the guest speaker, Elito Santarina, council member of Carson.
-On June 12---In Chicago,Illinois, the Committee on Pilipino Issues (CPI) together with Bagwis Collective are hosting Kultural Night of Resistance (KNR ) on June 12, 2010 (Saturday) at 6:00PM – 10:00PM at Maya Essence Fair Trade Gallery located at 4357 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago (corner Montrose St.)
There will be performances by Bagwis, Lucidblur, Stephanie Camba, Lani Montreal, David Wycoco, Defensor Method Kali Eskrima & many more… There will be live music, spoken word, martial arts, “makabayan” game show, food and drinks…
--On June 14, JFAV and AWARE will celebrate independence day with a commemoration of the victory at Bessang Pass, June 14, 1945 at the Church of the Nazarene,3401 3rd St. Los Angeles, CA 90020. The guests are Consul General Aragon and Senator Gil Cedillio, 22nd District. CA.There will also be food distribution and free food on the occasion.
All these various people’s activities aim is to celebrate our people's resistance & resiliency in the continuing struggle for our dignity,genuine independence & sovereignty
