The largest party in the “self-styled” prolonged Constituent Assembly, the Unified Maoists’ Party, issuing a strong worded statement Thursday June 3, 2010 has said that “nonchalance of the ruling parties, namely Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninists towards the Three Point Agreement made on May 28, 2010 midnight was a political betrayal of the highest order”.
“The parties (the NC and the UML) by “misinterpreting” the three point agreement have not only betrayed the population but by summarily breaking the unwritten agreement for the resignation of Prime Minister within five days, which tantamount to ‘naked’ political betrayal and immoral behavior as well”.
The statement signed by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal also states that the party has been for the last one year period observing that the behavior of Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninists have been against forging the politics of consensus, peace and constitution draft, and the statement further adds, “their indifference towards the fresh three point agreement have further substantiated our previous observation”.
“There is great conspiracy to sideline the largest party in constituent assembly, the act in itself is against peace, constitution and forward looking changes”, the statement also reads.
Likewise, Mohan Baidya Kiran, Unified Maoists’ Party senior vice chairman, while addressing a media interaction program here in the capital today revealed that the resignation of Prime Minister has become a long forgotten issue for his party.
“Yes indeed! a gentleman agreement was made between K. P. Sharma Oli and our Chairman Prachanda that Mr. Nepal would resign within five days”, he said adding “that is not forthcoming”.
Sharp brains suggest the Nepal Maoists to locate those stalwarts in their own party who have contributed to what they call a betrayal.
Keep on searching.
