SEND IN THE CLOWNS!

The biggest political circus in the Philippines hits the road today with the local campaign in full swing.

The main show is the presidential elections with eight big clowns on the road show. This includes a former president an actor trying to stage a comeback. a scion of a landlord family, a realtor, the annointed one, an evangelist, a frustrated boy mayor, a councilor, and an environmentalist

But the side show is much bigger. With the former first lady Imelda Marcos running for congress in Ilocos Norte and the president GMA as a congresswoman in Pampanga. Who can beat that?

In almost all the areas, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts, sons and daughters of politicians are up and running for elective positions from senator to town councilors.

And dare say there is no political dynasties in the Philippines according to the law!

Not to be outdone, slew of former military officers retired or cashiered are also running as senators up to councilors this season everywhere. See ex-General Palparan run as senator to spew anti-communist tirades against Liza maza and Satur Ocampo.

Some people really have no shame.

In an apparent bid to go by the backdoor to congress, former government officials signed up for party-list as nominees to be elected once their party-list wins this elections. There is I-Utak ( or No Brain party) etc.

They are supposed to represent undeserved and marginalized sectors. What is not funny is that they are not marginalized but highly privileged mammals.

What can you say about Mike Arroyo, the presidential son running as a party list? Well they say its all fair in love and war!

But the question remain. Will there be elections come may 2010?

The million dollar questions remained unanswered. It depends if the cheating in this election year can be subtle or gross.

The AFP and the PNP are using the election time to identify the left supporters and line them up for assassination and black-list during and after the elections. The underground left is also padding their hit list for pay back time in cash or in lives.

This may circus is really hot, bloody and messy.

But it can be fun with Imelda crooning again for Ilocano votes, Estrada play-acting as Asiong Salonga for the voters, Willy Revillame and Dolphy with the WOWOWIE Dancers swinging for Villar and show host Kris Aquino and her sistahs crying for Nonoy.

But for us Don’t Cry for us-Filipinas, decide for yourself!

Arise!
