MAYOR OF THE LARGEST CITY OF BRAZIL IS ANNULLED BY THE JUSTICE

The Electoral Justice of São Paulo annulled mayor Gilberto Kassab's mandate (DEM) and his vice, Alda Marco Antonio (PMDB), for supposed reception of illegal donation during the campaign of 2008.



The decision, of the judge of the 1st Zona Aloísio Sérgio Resende Silveira, it will be published in the beginning of the week.



The sentence, in first instance, doesn't have immediate effect. Being like this, the mayor and his vice can appeal without leaving their positions.



However, if it be maintained in the superior instances, the decision turns Kassab and Alda Marco Antonio ineligible for three years.



The information was advanced by the Newspaper of the Afternoon.



The electoral judge understood that they were illegal the donations done by the Associação Imobiliária Brasileira (AIB) and contractors shareholders of public services of the São Paulo City Hall during the campaign to the City hall. The Justice considered that the coalition for the which Kassab was chosen, in 2008, received R$ 10 million in an illegal way.



The value represents more than 20% of the total collected by the coalition, what would characterize abuse of economical power.



In agreement with the Electoral Public Prosecution Service (MPE), AIB serves as facade of the Sindicato da Habitação (Secovi Union)- for law, syndical entities cannot make electoral donations.



For the same reason, the Justice already condemned to the loss of the position, last year, 16 Aldermen of the São Paulo, that also received donations considered illegal.



To lawsuits moved by the Electoral Public Prosecution Service to the campaign of Kassab and other candidates of the election of 2008 are already judged.



The report didn't get contact in the night of this Saturday with mayor Gilberto Kassab's consultantship.
