Last spring, Cease Animal Torture (CAT) launched their first ever Animal Liberation Forum in April 2009 at California State University Long Beach. CAT's Forum was the first conference concerning animal rights in all of CSULB's 60 year history. Earthlings Director Shaun Monson, Stewart Soloman from Vegan Outreach, Greg Kelly co-founder of Win Animal Rights (WAR), Nik Hensey from No Compromise, and Dr. Jerry Vlasak MD were some of the amazing speakers that participated. Several animal rights organizations including veganTHIS, Orange County People for Animals (OCPA) and North American Animal Liberation Press Office (NAALPO) tabled the event as well.
CAT will be holding a 2nd annual Animal Liberation Forum in Spring 2010 (April 15-18, 2010). CAT is currently looking for speakers and organizations to participate and are asking those who are interested to send an application** by Friday January 15, 2010 at animalliberationforum@yahoo.com.
If you would like to volunteer or get involved with planning for the AL Forum 2010, please send an email at the address provided above.
**Applications for speakers consist of your name, organization (if applicable) and what you are interested in speaking on. Applications for organizations consist of your organization's name, main contact and a general summary of what your organization promotes (or your mission statement).

I am looking for Long Beach, CA animal rights organization that can help me pass a law here that will stop people from leaving their pets on their balconies. Many of my neighbors do this. I have a neighbor who leaves their Sharpie on a balcony day and night. They claim that they take it for a walk, but I have never seen them do that. I have neighbors who live in back that keep two cats on a balcony. There is a neighbor down the street that keeps a dog on a balcony. It is extremely painful to see these animals. The dog next door cries to be let in. It is cold and raining right now and although It is enclosed. The rain will fall on him. I have reported them to animal control, but there really isn't anything they can do unless we pass a law stopping the use of a balcony to house a pet. I hope you can help me.
