Temple St. Los Angeles, CA 90026 In a candle light vigil, the 64 people who were killed in the most gruesome massacre in the most recent Philippine History last November 23, 2009 in Ampatuan, Maguindanao among them 31 media people were memorialized .

Los Angeles – Scores of Filipino Americans and their American allies held a solemn memorial meeting to remember the 64 victims of the Maguindanao Massacre last November 23, 2009 last Tuesday night on December 8, 2009 at the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA), 1740 W. Temple St. Los Angeles, CA 90026

In a candle light vigil, the 64 people who were killed in the most gruesome massacre in the most recent Philippine History last November 23, 2009 in Ampatuan, Maguindanao among them 31 media people were memorialized .

AFFIRM /GABNET-LA representative Ivy Guicho told the stories of the 22 of the victims who were women( lawyers, journalist and ordinary housewives) who were all raped before they were killed! She called for an end to political violence to all women.

Mindanao BangsaMoro Caucus (MBMC) chair, Joe Navidad traced the rise of political dynasties and warlord private armies like the Ampatuan to political patronage and US interests in the island of Mindanao. A native of Mindanao, Navidad pointed out that the Ampatuan private armies were used by GMA to win and cheat in the 2004 presidential elections.

Ernest Tamayo of KmB Pro People Youth called on Filipino-American youths to go beyond the media reports and analyze the root causes of the Mindanao conflict. Meanwhile, Jerry Esgurra of ANSWER-LA pointed out to the role of US Imperialism in its war of terror in aggravating the war and conflict in Mindanao for its selfish interest,

Rhony Laygo, formerly of the cultural group Tambisan, a journalist himself, paid tribute to his fellow media people by rendering patriotic songs in Tagalog as a tribute to the Maguindanao massacre victims.

AJLPP next mass actions, the next one will be a vigil rally at the Philippine Consulate, 3600 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026 on Dec, 10 at 6;30 PM. We call on the public to come.
