Election in jeopardy! Ballots not sent. See this to get yours--BY TOMORROW!

DID YOU GET YOUR BALLOT? Don’t remember seeing it? It’s possible you didn’t get one. Keep reading.

In the past few days, the Local Election Supervisor, Michael Sanchez, has gotten numerous reports that people didn’t get ballots. Michael doesn’t know what’s happened, but wants to make it right. He’s going to extend the return date for two weeks for people who request replacement ballots.

This is going to be a tight race, and every vote is going to count. Maybe you’ve been a victim of the email vitriol of that other committee, you’re alarmed at their bitter name-calling and demonizing, and you’re looking for an alternative. Or you heard the last fund drive and the strange programming has you worried, or heard about the financial crisis, or wondered where your familiar hosts have gone. It’s a crisis, and KPFK needs your vote. After all, that’s what the Pacifica Campaign was for.

IF YOU HAVE YOUR BALLOT DELIVER IT to KPFK at AT 3729 Cahuenga, North Hollywood BY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15!

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

* Call Michael at 818-985-2711 x299 or email him at election@kpfk.org and request a replacement ballot BEFORE FRIDAY.

* He’ll send you a ballot by first-class mail.

And when you get that ballot, check out the candidates at takebackkpfk.org. You’ll find real community organizers and activists, people who know how to get the job done, people who know what Southern California is all about. They’re experienced Board members from KPFK, and Board members and managers from Action Now, the Independent Action Center Los Angeles, the O.C. Peace and Freedom Party, the O.C. Unitarian Church, O.C. Veterans for Peace, PAPEL, the South Central Leadership Council, the Stakeholders Action Committee for the Park Mesa Heights Community Council, Tia Chuchas Community Board, and The Tustin Municipal Employee Association.

They’re in your community, volunteering for an amazing range of grassroots efforts and organizations: Affiliated Property Craftspersons Local 44, the ACLU, AL AWDA, ANSWER-LA, ARA, Bus Riders Union, CAIR, Catholic Detention Ministries Families of the Incarcerated, Change Links, Citizens United for a Responsible Budget, Coalition for Educational Justice, the Committee to Free Robert Salas, Danza Azteca Cuautemoc, the Dennis Kucinich for President Campaign, the Elders Council of Alianza Indigena, Families to Amend California’s Three Strikes Law, Global Voices for Justice, the Green Party, the Cynthia McKinney Presidential Campaign, the Los Feliz Square Neighborhood Association, the NAACP, Northeast Community Clinics, People for the American Way, the Puerto Rican Alliance, Proyecto Common Touch, Rainforest Action Network, the South Asian Network, the Stakeholders Action Committee for the Park Mesa Heights Community Council, The World Can’t Wait, Tia Chuchas, Venice Neighborhood Council, and Viva Palestinia.

Now, go look at the recommendations of that other committee, the one that can afford that slick mailer and full-page ads, the ones who have led KPFK and Pacifica to this brink. I’m not going to tell you where to find them–they have enough money to do their own advertising for an LSB election, even as KPFK told us today that the real unemployment rate is as high as 20%. See how many of their candidates you can find who’ve protested in the streets or led a local progressive movement.

* Fill your ballot out and return it as soon as you can.

KPFK needs you, and KPFK needs better Board members. The crisis is here, and it’s up to you to make the change.

PASS THIS MESSAGE ON to your email list and post it everywhere! KPFK is at stake.
