NUHW PICKETS NLRB LA OFFICE, DEMANDS IMMEDIATE UNION ELECTIONS

Los Angeles- “ GIVE OUR VOTE, LET US VOTE!”

Scores of union members from the newly formed National Union of Health Workers (NUHW) fro different LA hospitals and their community supporters rallied and picketed the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) office at 11115 W. Olympic Blvd. Los Angeles yesterday, July 23 to protest the long delay for union elections.

“ We the workers and members since February have filed valid petitions with his office calling for elections to quit SEIU and join the NUHW. ..you office has left us trapped in SEIU for nearly six months” the NUHW statement said.

Led by NUHW leader Sal Roselli, scores of workers picketed the NLRB office for more than two hours. The NLRB then allowed a group of workers from five different hospital in LA to present their case to them.

“The SEIU has taken advantage of NLRB’s delay to extract millions of dollar in dues from us and our co-workers and conduct a campaign of intimidation and threats against NUHW supporter in an effort to stifle our legally protected effort to form an independent union. Workers have been left defenseless to protect ourselves from employer anuses because the SEIU has unilaterally removed hundreds of shop stewards we depend on.”

Community advocate and union leader Jay Valencia said: “ We are fighting for one union, one voice and this is the essence of democracy. This should how democracy looks like. Let us vote immediately to join NUHW.”
