One hundred eleven years ago, the Filipino revolutionaries won and declared their independence from colonial Spain on June 12, 1898. Two months after on August 13, 1898, the United States occupied Manila and seven months later on Feb 4, 1899 declared war on the Philippines and crushed the young republic. 111 years later the Filipinos are still in struggle for true independence and sovereignty. With the VFA imposed,active US intervention and a culture of impunity of human rights violations forced on the Filipinos-- the Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP) and its allies commemorate Philippine Independence with fierce struggle in the United States with the following activities:
