STOP THE KILLER COP AWARDS!
NO TROPHYS FOR KILLING BABY SUSIE & RAUL PENA!
Thursday, May 28, 10:30am, at Hollywood & Vine’s Kodak Theater, 10 SWAT troops who killed 18 month old Susie Pena and her father Raul Pena, in the office of Sr. Pena’s auto shop on Avalon & 104th st. in 2005, are to be awarded the department’s highest honor, the Medal of Valor, given for “bravery in the line of duty,” for their part in the assault.
In their press announcement the LAPD remark that one of the officers was shot in the incident. They fail to mention he was shot by one of his own officers.
What is more disgusting is that their selection for this recognition at the LAPD’s premiere annual function was unanimously approved by the Board of Police Commissioners who were appointed by Mayor Villaraigosa. We remember the mayor attended baby Susie and Raul’s funeral and promised “We will do everything possible to ensure that we've uncovered every fact and gotten to the bottom of what happened here.”
But nothing has happened. Where is the report? Even the civil lawsuit is on a shelf.
Where is Eric Holder and the Department of Justice? The LAPD is under a Federal Consent Decree!
We are calling for organizational co-sponsorship to condemn this vile celebration.
Those that can we are asking to join us to in front of the Kodak Theater to let it be known.

Los Angeles: The Medal of Valor is the Los Angeles Police Department's highest award and may be awarded to officers who distinguish themselves by conspicuous bravery or heroism above and beyond the normal demands of police service.
To be awarded the Medal of Valor, an officer shall have performed an act displaying extreme courage while consciously facing imminent peril.
It is awarded by the Police Commissioners and is presented by the Chief of Police, in the name of the Los Angeles Police Department at the annual Medal of Valor awards ceremony.
http://lapdblog.typepad.com/lapd_blog/2008/05/medal-of-valor.html 2008- On Wednesday, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, City Council members and top Los Angeles Police Department brass joined about 800 law enforcement personnel and others at a ceremony honoring this year's recipients of the LAPD's Medal of Valor. It is the agency's highest honor and one reserved for acts of bravery in the line of duty.
Villaraigosa called the 21 officers being honored "everyday heroes who, without hesitation and in the face of great danger, reached out with a hand of assistance in a way we have to celebrate."

You'd think a self-titled "grassroots media source" would tell the whole story and then let the reader conjur his own opinion. This is clearly not the case with this poorly written piece, as it is evident even in the title that it is someone's opinion. You don't get the whole story until after you've read the entire article and have scrolled down to the bottom where you find the actual newspaper article, which paints a vastly different picture of the supposed "killer cops". The article states that the "deranged" man, (also the girl's father apparently), was shooting at people during a fire while unfortunately holding his young daughter. In cases like these, it'd be pretty hard in my opinion to stop the man without atleast hurting the child, and I hardly believe that these men are "killers" who planned or enjoyed doing this. These kind of unfortunate accidents come with the territory when an insane parent has chosen to put his, his children's and others lives on the line.
