EPCC STATEMENT OPPOSING AND CONDEMNING HR 737

The Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC) composed of different community and people’s organization in Los Angeles vehemently condemns and opposes the HR 737 or the Nograles Resolution seeks to amend the 1987 Constitution’s economic provisions.

The EPCC stands with the Filipino people and the Filipino American community that militantly oppose the treasonous bill only seeks favorable and one-sided benefits to foreign corporations and business and is virtually giving away the Philippines to foreigners.

Nogales and his ilk have no sense of national pride and respect for the sovereignty of our people and its collective history of struggle against foreign domination.

We are angered by this brazen act of puppetry, slavishness and flunkeyism that knows no bound. In enacting this HR 737 into a law are a crime and an outrage against the Filipino people and the nation.

“ Isa itong pagtratraydor at pagiging makadayuhan at kasumpasumpang kataksilan. Dapat itakwil ang mga katulad ni Nograles na mga makabagong MAKAPILI at kolaborator ng mga mapagsamantalang dayuhan.”

The EPCC said the contents of the Nograles resolution were objectionable, since allowing foreigners to own 100 percent of certain businesses and land in the Philippines would not be beneficial to the economy.

The EPCC believes that the profits of foreign companies would not help the country because these firms would only send the profits to home countries.

The EPCC cited the experience of Mindanao, saying that many big multinational corporations are there, but its economy has not improved by leaps and bounds.

The last time the same measure was passed in 1946 and it was called the Parity Rights during the Roxas administration.
