Time to give Texas the boot. This is a corrected version of the petition.

To: U.S. Congress

Recently, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, spoke of the possibility that Texas might secede from the United States of America. Texas has a long history of not getting along. What is now Texas was formerly the Mexican state of Coahuila y Texas. In an act of generosity, the government of Mexico permitted Americans to settle on Mexican land as new citizens of Mexico. These newcomers returned the kind offer by declaring independence from Mexico in 1836 and fighting a bloody war against their benefactor.

In 1946, Texas begged the United States of America for the opportunity to join the United States as a State. Only 15 years later, in 1861, Texas withdrew from the United States and joined the Confederate States of America, once again waging a bloody war on its benefactor. Texas was roundly defeated by the United States in 1865 and thereafter forcibly rejoined with the same.

In the years that Texas has been a state of the United States, it has inflicted upon the United States three disastrous presidents. Lyndon Baines Johnson, President of the United States, became President as a consequence of the murder of President John F. Kennedy. While president, Lyndon Johnson dragged the United States into a losing war against Vietnam and escalated the cold war. Next came George H. W. Bush, resident of Texas and former operative from the CIA alleged by some to have been involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. George H. W. Bush was involved in an illegal arms for hostages program with Iran and an illegal funding program to terrorists in Central America waging an illegal war against Nicaragua. His son, George W. Bush became President of the United States in January, 2001. As President, the second George Bush failed to defend the American people from a massive attack on September 11, 2001 and then used that attack to increase his political power. This second George Bush, former Governor of Texas, violated the Constitution, spied on Americans, and lied the country into a war against Iraq. During his wars on Iraq and Afghanistan, the later Bush employed the use of torture, in violation of the Geneva Conventions, thereby committing war crimes and tarnishing the name of the United States. By the end of his Presidency, George W. Bush left the United States greatly in debt and in economic depression.

All things considered, Texas has been disaster for the United States. For these reasons, we the undersigned, ask the Congress of the United States to expel Texas from the United States and return Texas to Mexico.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
