San Bernardino County Hires "Save Our State" Leader

Neil Derry, San Bernardino County Supervisor for the Third District, has hired Joseph Turner as a special projects coordinator.

Turner is the executive director of "Save Our State," an anti-immigration group classified by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a "hate group." Turner accuses illegal immigrants of turning California into “a Third World cesspool.”

Brian Levin, speaking for the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at Cal State San Bernardino, called the Turner appointment “outrageous.”

“This is someone who I believe crosses the line,” he said.

Derry claims that Turner's K per year job will involve writing opinion pieces and news releases for area media.
