AJLPP Condemns San Francisco Police Attacks on Peaceful Assembly last March 21.

Los Angeles- The Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP) vehemently condemned the vicious and unprovoked attacks by the San Francisco anti-riot police on peaceful assembly at the Civic Center in San Francisco last March 21.

The AJLPP also scored the police riot on the Palestinian youths and the peaceful assembly who were the targets of their attacks. A baton hit a Palestinian woman and a Filipino youth with the ANSWER peace marshals was also attacked brutality by the cops.

AJLPP West Coast Coordinator Arturo P. Garcia personally witnessed how the San Francisco anti-riot police tried to break up the ANSWER rally at the Civic center by arresting an innocent Palestinian boy about eight years old who was near the police rail fence meter just behind the rally stage.

Garcia said; “’ The tug of war between the Palestinian youths and the police started when the police grabbed the boy and claimed that he had a bag full of stones.

People Fought Back, police driven out

Naturally the group fought back by grabbing the boy. Police with the names BANDINI and FLOTZ grabbed the boy and brought him outside the fence.

After wards, the police redeployed and extended their line to the right of the streets and forcibly entered the rally sites.

They came close to 25 meters to the stage and later retreated at least 50 meters extending their lines near the ANSWER tent display. They acted menacingly and threatened the peaceful assembly “ Garcia relates.

Only after Dick Becker demanded the police withdraw away from the rally area did the police relented but made further arrests. This was not the first time the police tried to break up the ANSWER rally in San Francisco. The San Francisco police had a long story of brutality against the working people of the Bay Area.
