Pa. Sen. Specter to oppose card check
Supporters of the Employee Free Choice Act should pause for a reality check on news that Specter will oppose it. Without his vote, with otherwise likely unanimous opposition from other GOP senators, and opposition from some Democratic Leader Council Democrats, they don't have 60 votes to overcome a Republican filibuster.
Hopefully, business interests may reduce their propaganda spending as unnecessary with the votes in hand to stop it. Diana Fienstein might now support it now that she knows it won't pass.
Passing this act will require not a nationwide public relations campaign for it, but a targeted electorial campaign to replace some of the Republican Senators up for reelection in 2010.
