Los Angeles, CA – In music you can be a vocalist. But it’s another thing to ‘have a voice.’ Vocalist-Songwriter-Musician-Producer, Sonya Kahn is doing both. Working hard as an independent artist and also working hard as someone who is trying to bring awareness with her art, she is in search of ‘remembrance events’ for the 94th anniversary of the 1915 World War I Armenian Genocide. As a first-generation immigrant to the U.S., Russian-born Kahn’s family was personally affected by Genocide on both sides. Her determination as an artist to speak out, inspired her to pen the edgy rock single, WHISPERING SOULS available at cdbaby.com/cd/sonyakahn2. “We can’t hold the nation or regular people accountable for these crimes. It's the government, leaders, dictators along with negative political forces that commit these crimes. Unfortunately regular people/citizens are kept in the dark, brainwashed and manipulated throughout many years. So that's why it's so important to talk about it, speak up, bring to justice all the crimes were committed against humanity. The Armenian Genocide estimated 1.5 million deaths in 1915 and after that we have The Nazi Holocaust 1938-1945, Cambodia and Khymer Rouge 1975-1979, Rwanda 1994, Bosnia-Herzegovina 1992-1995 Rwanda, Darfur Genocide - the Coalition for International Justice estimated that 400,000 people in Darfur had died since the conflict began. Can you believe that while we are dealing with our everyday life problems like economic depression, gas prices, etc… in other countries people are being killed, raped, forced to leave their homes…!?” declares Kahn.

WHISPERING SOULS can be heard on Kahn’s Myspace.com/sonyakahn site with over 770,000 views. The song was released last Fall, with a behind-the-scenes of her recording the song at youtube.com/sonyakahn She received much praise from her fans, music enthusiasts and even a few activist groups. But Kahn has only begun her ambitious trek to bring awareness about what inspired this song in the first place.

“Like any other Genocide, War or Revolution in the past, the Armenian Genocide continues to be a very controversial debate among numerous sources. In my opinion this on-going debate is a continuation of the problems we have today with ethic, religious and racial issues. It's time to stop the killings, together we can do everything and more importantly we should secure a brighter future for our generation and for the future of mankind,” states Kahn.

Kahn was additionally inspired by Armenian Genocide and her WHISPERING SOULS song, to be vocal as moderator of a group called Sonya Kahn’s Speak Out Symphony (SKSOS) groups.myspace.com/sksos, where she also discusses anti-war topics, ethics, responsibility, the economy, optimism, the music industry and more.
Kahn is not afraid to express her thoughts and ideas about life in the name of the world, war, peace and life.

WHISPERING SOULS is a song she felt passionate and felt driven to write, record and produce. While production of this song was not planned, WHISPERING SOULS is anything but a ‘whisper’ in terms of production. Kahn is a classically trained with a Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in concert piano performing and musical theory. She uses her musical knowledge and skills, but depends more on her own emotions.

“It just happened naturally. When I'm passionate about something I tend to get emotional, so I let my instincts and nature to take over. Lyrics for this song came all at once because I knew what I was going to talk about. The message is clear – we need to be united, fighting against evil, against negative forces that make other people suffer for no reason. We need to be against something that's destroying human kind. We'll win if we are together. It's a long and difficult battle but once you understand how important every action is, even just one tiny drop to the ocean counts,” Kahn explains.

For 2009, Kahn is already off to a busy start. Empathizing with her fans and their struggles with a shaky economy, she has just released her new music video SABRE DANCE in High Definition for FREE download on her official website, SonyaKahn.com. Kahn continues to promote her 13-track CD NEW BEGINNING and she has plans to do more recording this year, while continuing to keep her voice true to the things she stands for. For now, she is on the path to find Armenian Genocide remembrance events for April 24th, 2009. If the WHISPERING SOULS could talk, they’d say they are proud of Sonya Kahn, as she has much to say from the heart.

“The value of our life is the life itself. It’s why we have to go through something terrible in order to understand and appreciate what we've been given and change the outlook in life. If the "Whispering Souls" of all the senseless deaths could not just whisper, but speak out - I think they would say stop the killing, love each other, don't repeat the same horrible mistakes that were committed in the past "Evil is weak if we fight together against it till the end!"
