Zionist Running for LA City Council Seat.

by FYI Wednesday, Feb. 04, 2009 at 8:11 PM

The Los Angeles director of AIPAC, Aneena Bleich is running for the 5th council District seat. The 5th district is home to the largest concentration of Zionists outside Israel and New York. They constitute a powerful voting block in the 5th district and typically install whoever they want to the council. It appears they have again chosen one of their own, Aneena Bleich of AIPAC.

Despite their power Zionists are not the majority group in the 5th district. A well organized coalition of the remaining voting blocks in the district could conceivably challenge and defeat the installation of yet other Zionist on the City Council. Although considered a long shot, recent election result show that anything is possible and should not be ruled out.

Those concerned about Zionist control of US policy in the Middle East might want to consider a challenge to Bleich and her AIPAC backers. Such a campaign, successful or not, could send a powerful message that at least some Americans are sick of US foreign policy being dictated from Tel Aviv. The recent large street protests against the Gaza Massacre could signal a change in the awareness of US citizens. Perhaps now is the time to take the outrage expressed in the streets and focus it on a specific campaign. This city council race could serve that purpose. At very least Bleich’s directorship of AIPAC and support for the Gaza Massacre should be brought to the voters attention and made a campaign issue.

Agreed on not wanting AIPAC/Zionists on City Council, but this next statement:

>US foreign policy being dictated from Tel Aviv

Isn't that the tail wagging the dog? U.S. imperialism dictates the relationship with Israel, not the other way around. That's why Egypt is the number 2 recipient of aid. That's why Iran under the Pahlavi Shaw was the "Israel" of the decades prior to 1979. In other words, so long as U.S. imperialist interests require a "watchdog" in the middle east, it will provide unlimited aid and support. People claiming AIPAC dictates terms to the U.S. ruling class are woefully misinformed and need to read more on the region and U.S. imperialism.

No success in contacting Bleich

by Sol Thursday, Feb. 05, 2009 at 8:45 AM

I have been emailing her email box with questions about her support for Israeli war crimes and have been trying to find out when she will appear publicly anywhere before voters.

So far no one has answered my questions and she seems to be making only private appearances.
