The Southern California Pilipino American Student Alliance (SCPASA) held their 2009 Summit at the University of California, Riverside this Saturday, January 31st. It was attended by more or less 200 students who attended different workshops given by Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV), FAIR. PWC and other resource speakers.KmB Secretary General Ernest Tamayo was the keynote speaker.

SCPASA Summit 2009 at Riverside, California on Saturday, January 31st

Los Angeles-- The Southern California Pilipino American Student Alliance (SCPASA) held their 2009 Summit at the University of California, Riverside this Saturday, January 31st.

It was attended by more or less 200 students who attended different workshops given by Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV), FAIR. PWC and other resource speakers.KmB Secretary General Ernest Tamayo was the keynote speaker.

"Multifaceted" is a "one-day conference for Pil-Am collegiate students to explore together such topics as indiginious culture, transitioning from college to the professional world, developing Pilipino studies on campus, organizational development, and so much more." It's a great opportunity to network, meet, and collaborate with student leaders.

A night show with Bambu, DJ Phatrick, and many more at The Vibe capped the conference.

Why MULTIFACETED?

The identity that has grasp the Filipino American community has transcended into a space for all to educate one another, inspire the ambient populace, and take action for the future. In unison, this is the way for creating stronger bonds to help build a greater community.

For SCPASA Summit 2009, the Southern California Pilipino American Student Alliance shall explore the many ways to better improve the idea of “us as a whole” and “us as individuals.”

It was the chance to bring out issues affecting the Pilipino American community and discovering the initiative and methods to take action. Strengthening Pilipino studies on college campuses, the fight for the equality and benefits of the World War II Filipino American Veterans, and the creativity of Fil-Am arts, are just some examples and issues that will be presented and addressed.

Not only is SCPASA here as leaders to make a difference in society, everyone immersed in SCPASA is also here as a community to embrace both Pilipino and Pilipino American culture in its history and prevelance.

What is SCPASA?

The Southern California Pilipino American Student Alliance (SCPASA) is a non-profit organization consisted of a collective of collegiate Pilipino American Organizations within Southern California. With the objective of promoting culture,
economical situations, and social justice pertaining to the Pilipino American community, it is the hope of the organization to spread awareness by upholding and implementing education, equality, and issues of the past, present, and future of the Pilipino culture.
