From NETHERLANDS- Radio Netherlands has announced that it will eliminate shortwave broadcasts to North America on October 26. The decision is based on their surveys that find very few listeners in N America. If you ever listen to RN on shortwave, please let them know- by email to

From RUSSIA- An international conference to make peace between Russia and Georgia laid the blame for the recent wars at the feet of Georgia's President. The Bush administration will not close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, despite national and international demands.
