AJLPP Supports JFAV Mass Actions for the Final Push for Filipino Veterans Rights- October 3-10
Los Angeles—“ The demand of Filipino World War II veterans for their benefits and rights is just and reasonable cause and no amount of denial and delay from the US Congress can justify its callous and racist actions of stalling the benefits bill denied from them for 63 years.”
The AJLPP stands for and supports the final offensive in the US Congress focused on the Senate to call a conference committee to pass the veterans bill, AJLPP West Coordinator Arturo P. Garcia said. The mass actions will be held from October 3 to 10, 2008 U.S wide.
US Wide Mass Actions
The AJLPP supports the nationwide mass actions for veteran rights. The nationwide mass actions started last Friday, Oct. 3 with a sit-in mass actions of the AFCV in the Capitol at Sen. Burr's office.
In Los Angeles, there will be community forum at UCLA on Sunday, October 5 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Ackermann Hall to rally colleges and universities and high school students from Southern California and the community for a final push for the Filipino World War II veterans.
On Monday, October 6, a rally will be held at Senator Burr’s office in North Carolina to dramatize support for besieged Filipino Veterans. Senator Burr was instrumental in blocking the motion of Sen. Daniel K. Akaka(Democrat, Hawaii) on the Senate floor last Sept. 23 for the Senate and House to form a conference committee on S. 1315. This bill that provides benefits to Filipino veterans living in the Philippines has been repeatedly stalled.
Mass Actions in LA and San Francisco
On Friday, October 10, Los Angels and San Francisco will hold their rallies in front of the Federal Building in the two cities for the veterans. The Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) and the Samahang Pilipino at UCLA will lead the rally in front of the monument to the Spanish –American War at the Westwood Federal building 11000 Wilshire, Los Angeles from 4 to 7 P.M.
In San Francisco, JFAV-San Francisco and veterans and student groups will rally in front of the Federal Building at 450 Golden Gate Avenue in downtown area. They will push for the convening of the conference committee to reconcile the two separate bills S 1315 and HB 68097 in Congress.
The AJLPP calls on all Filipino American organization and mainstream allies to join the JFAV final push for recognition, justice and equity for 18,000 remaining and for the memory of the others who gave their lives for freedom and democracy.
“This fight is about racism and the Filipino veterans victimized by such racist laws since 1946 when the rescission act was passed. The unjust law excluded 250,000 Filipino veterans from receiving benefits and recognition that they deserved as American World War II veterans. “ the AJLPP statement ended.

Come on people, these hired guns killed the people that Democraps (YOU!) and Republitrash (and YOU!) told them to kill. They helped the Democraps (YOU!) and Republitrash (YOU!) set up the American empire.
Just as georgia sent troops to help Bush's handlers kill a million or so Iraqis, so American kids should be sent to georgia to help them kill Ossesians.
As much as I don't want hired killers in the US, even old ones, I don't want to get even poorer than I am now to pay them off so they can go back to their homeland.
your taxes aren't affected, PP because you're an israeli.
we, on the other hand don't have a choice as our currency is watered down to nothing.
Not a member of the collective.
Just interested in the games you play with yourself for the sake of correction.
I think the fained extremism is directed at the curious to discredit the anti-zionist movement, as only a zionist ever comes off as such a divisive insulting asshole.
