This Halloween, there will be The Second Annual Reclaim The Streets Masquerade Ball in Downtown Santa Barbara - and you're all invited.

Last year on Halloween, something amazing happened in the streets of downtown Santa Barbara. Anarchists, punks, and other gleeful misfits took to the streets - State Street, no less, Santa Barbara's main drag, a street covered in high-end chain stores that caters heavily to its tourists. They threw a party, dancing to live music where people once sat in their cars, stuck in traffic.

This year, it's back - The 2nd Annual Reclaim The Streets Masquerade Ball. It promises to be "a night to remember...we'll have music, good food, pinatas, and any party games people want to bring," says one participant from last year who plans on attending again. "Bring a sandbox, bring a swingset, bring anything." The planners are looking forward to a good turnout of locals. "This town has been boring lately, let's make it more fun," said one kid while eating Food Not Bombs. But this year, they want to see people from other towns there. "This could be a great opportunity to meet radicals from all over. Also it'd be great to see new faces."

So this Halloween, put on your costume (or at least your most outrageous getup), grab your noisemakers, slip on your dancing shoes, and meet your fellow rowdies and revelers at the Sunken Gardens (behind the courthouse) at 7 PM on Halloween night. In the meantime, you can help out by fliering (fliers are available on the RTS myspace, but everyone is encouraged to make there own), reposting the info online, or just telling your friends.
