Los Angeles- Democrat presumptive candidate Senator Barack Obama completes the turn to the right. By picking the pro-War Senator Biden as a running mate, he sought to appeal to the most backward sectors of the U.S. voting population and to show the ruling class “I’m your guy.” Obama wanted to assure people that he is not really that liberal. Obama affirmed that he is insecure of Clinton and he cannot hold a candle to Hillary Clinton in policy making. He proved that he is not the man for himself and he is being lead by other policy makers.

DEMOCRAT BARACK OBAMA COMPLETES DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AT THE DENVER CONVENTION AUGUST 25

The Filipino American community primarily the democrats, working and oppressed people are left out. As usual neither candidate speaks in their interests, even thought the vast majority of workers are against the war and favor maintaining abortion rights.

While McCain seemed to relish spewing racism and bigoted bile in his attack ads. Both the candidates agreed on the same points.

Obama’s strategy toward the Middle East, like McCain’s, is rooted in maintaining U.S. imperialist domination. When asked whether Obama would go to war without U.N. approval, he immediately shot back, “Yes, of course I would.”

On social issues, the candidates showed only shades of difference. Obama said he was for maintaining abortion rights, but affirmed that he is not “pro-abortionOn same-sex marriage, both candidates declared their firm belief that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Obama went out of his way to assert his opposition to same-sex marriage, although he also opportunistically voiced opposition to Proposition 8, the California anti-same-sex marriage ballot measure. McCain supports the bigoted measure.

For progressive Filipino Americans , the real fact exist. That the real struggle unfolds outside the Denver Democratic and the Minnesota Republican conventions. Only people’s power and the mass movement can change the capitalist and oppressive system.
