The Churches of NorthEast LA presents Peace in the NorthEast Community March and Resource Fair

On August 16, 2008 at 10am, lead by the Churches of NorthEast LA, the NorthEast LA community will meet at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center, 6152 N Figueroa St, to march against violence in the streets. The march is down York Blvd to Eagle Rock Blvd and down Eagle Rock Blvd to a Resource Fair. Snacks will be served at both the staging area and the Resource Fair. Bottled water will also be available for marchers. The Resource Fair will end at 5:00pm. Along with the Resource Fair there will be live and DJ music and a Mini Car Show.

Community groups, families and other local organizations are encouraged to join the march and bring organizational / identificational banners.

This march is being held in response to the violence in the streets of NorthEast LA, the crimes against the person, such as shootings / drive-bys /robberies/ assaults / rapes / batteries. Summer is the time when these crimes escalate and so we are taking to the streets to march and declare:

Peace in the NorthEast: Stop the Violence.

The Peace March is ending at Victory Outreach, Eagle Rock, one of the many churches involved in putting on this event. We thank them for opening their doors. We encourage you to help us mobilize more of the community.

The Mini Car Show will be organized by Jesse Rojas who does the Highland Park Car Show on Figueroa St.

Supported by The Churches of NorthEast LA / CD 14 / CD 1 / the Mayor's Office. Other community organizations are the Historic Highland Park NC, the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Highland Park Kiwanis, Peace over Violence, Anahuak Soccer League and the Southwest Museum Coalition.
