BREAKING: Local Activist Don White Found Dead

The Los Angeles activist community is in shock at the news of the death of Don White. Family and friends who had been trying to reach him for the past few days went by his apartment and found him dead yesterday. The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Don White was the director of CISPES (Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador) and for many years active in the local Salvadoran community. Recently Don White contributed to the LA Indymedia front page with a report from a local demonstration: Militants, Loud Demo Causes "Change of Route" for Salvador's Right-wing President

Don was also active with KPFK, the local Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, and the Office Of the Americas

Most recently Don had been part of weekly vigils in support of the people of Haiti: A Weekly Vigil is Launched for Haiti and Kidnapped Human Rights Activist

Public memorial services have not been arranged as of yet but it is anticipated that services will be held sometime in the coming days.
