6 days to Save Rent Control; No on 98/Yes on 99

by $ Friday, May. 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM

You can vote today at the County Registrar’s office to save rent control and the homes of millions of Californians by voting No on 98/Yes on 99. This low voter turnout election compels every single pro-rent control voter to actually vote, and vote No on 98/Yes on 99. Our victory will come down to a handful of votes, so you must vote to save rent control and the environment.

You can find your County Registrar in the blue-striped white pages of your telephone book and at:

http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_d.htm

You do not have to vote on everything on the ballot, but PLEASE DO VOTE No on 98/Yes on 99.

If you are voting absentee on the ballot you received in the mail, DO NOT MAIL IT; YOU MUST WALK IT to either your County Registrar any day through June 3 or to any polling place on election day, June 3. It is too late to rely on the US mail for this important election.

If you plan to wait until June 3 to vote, your polling place is on the back of your County booklet. PLEASE NOTE, SOME POLLING PLACES HAVE CHANGED, so be sure to check your polling place location. You can also find your polling place for any county at:

http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_ppl.htm

or

http://www.smartvoter.org/ca/

The polling places for the two main counties which must pull us through this terrible crisis with a VERY HIGH VOTER TURNOUT are:

Los Angeles

http://lavote.net/locator/

and San Francisco

http://gispub02.sfgov.org/website/pollingplace/INDEX.htm

REMEMBER: THE ONLY POLL THAT COUNTS IS THE JUNE 3 ELECTION. All other polls are just wishful thinking which does not help; IT IS YOUR VOTE THAT COUNTS.

California has 58 counties (“The Great 58”). WE EXPECT ALL PRO RENT CONTROL AND PRO-ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS TO VOTE IN THIS ELECTION TO SAVE OUR STATE, THE GREAT 58. You cannot afford to stay home; the home and state you save will be your own. There are 28 million adults in California. We need to have a high voter turnout of 13 MILLION VOTERS IN THIS ELECTION. This is a MAJOR CRISIS FOR THE ENTIRE STATE AS IT PROP 98 WILL CAUSE THE DISLOCATION OF THE ENTIRE WORKINGCLASS, without whose labor, the California economy will STOP. We are talking about the homes we live in, the air we breathe, the water we drink and much more being totally unregulated. There will be no just cause eviction if Prop 98 passes, which means the landlords, who are funding Prop 98, will come up with any excuse to evict tenants so as to raise rents sky high as we have no vacancy control in California. SINCE WE HAVE NO OTHER AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN CALIFORNIA, PROP 98 WILL CAUSE THE HOMELESSNESS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE.

PLEASE NOTE: Just because we have a broad base of opposition to Prop 98 does not mean anything unless YOU ACTUALLY VOTE NO ON 98.

Large Undecided Vote Could Go Either Way; Please Vote & Push No on 98 voters to polls

by $ Friday, May. 30, 2008 at 11:15 AM

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 5/29/08,

at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/05/29/BAU110UT2F.DTL, a Field poll of 660 likely voters (in a state of 28 million adults) shows a huge 24% undecided vote on Prop 98, which could go either way or split. The yes vote is currently 33% with 43% opposed. In a low voter turnout election, which this June primary is expected to be since the presidential primary was in February, we cannot afford to rely on this poll. THE ONLY POLL THAT COUNTS IS THE JUNE 3 ELECTION. PLEASE VOTE AND PLEASE PUSH ALL PRO-RENT CONTROL VOTERS TO THE POLLS. San Francisco and Los Angeles must have a very high voter turnout and we will not stop pushing people to the polls until 8 p.m., June 3.
