Aztec dancers offered a purification ritual out front of the Federal Courthouse in Los Angeles on Friday as part of an emergency protest for Pennsylvania death row prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal organized by the Partisan Defense Committee. The protest was one of at least a dozen gatherings held across the country and internationally in response to the US Third Circuit Court of Appeals decision to uphold Mumia's guilty verdict. The verdict, issued Thursday, calls for a re-sentencing hearing.
