The Filipino community in the U.S. is one with the Irish people in commemorating the Easter Uprising of 1916 in Ireland against British colonialism. On Easter Monday 1916, Pádhraic Mac Piarais proclaimed the Irish Republic from the steps of the General Post Office (GPO) in Dublin while leading a military uprising against the British Empire's seven century long colonization of Ireland. Piarais' proclaimed republic has yet to be won, despite the fact that the people of Ireland ratified that Republic overwhelmingly two years later in 1918 all Ireland general election. Because results did not suit British interests, the 1918 election became the one and only All Ireland election that was ever allowed to be held. However, faithful Irish republicans have since defended the Republic's ideals and continue to be inspired by the noble aspirations of the 1916 Rising.

Los Angeles-- The Filipino community in the U.S. is one with the Irish people in commemorating the Easter Uprising of 1916 in Ireland against British colonialism.

This is the 92nd anniversary of the historical event. The 1916 Easter Rising was the defining moment in the history of the modern Irish nation and is considered amongst the holiest of days in the Irish Republican calendar.

In contrast, the establishment politicians in the partitionist twenty six county Irish Free state, who owe their positions of

privilege and power to the events of 1916, after decades of attempting to crush by brute force those who have remembered and honored the men and women of 1916, are now embracing a revisionist gloss of Easter 1916 while besmirching the true Republic and her faithful followers.

The other partitionist six county Irish statelet is still occupied by the British. This is made possible by former Republicans who hijacked the Republican movement for personal riches and who are now in full servitude to the British crown in Ireland. They will also take advantage of the Easter Rising by pretending that it is normal to sit in a British assembly in Ireland.
