The Laguna Journal has learned that the Santa Ana police responded to the store and spotted Gonzalez who run when he saw the police. The officers then chased him to the loading dock in the rear of the store, where the unarmed Gonzalez was confronted and shot by police officers.



27-year-old Daniel Ramos Gonzalez of Santa Ana was identified Tuesday as the man wanted on two warrants who was shot to death Sunday night by Santa Ana police.

Daniel Ramos Gonzalez of Santa Ana was shot during a struggle with two officers at the Wal-Mart at 3600 W. McFadden Ave. according to authorities.

According to Police, officers went to the Wal-Mart store to check on Gonzalez, who was wanted by the Anaheim Police Department on two warrants. One warrant was for carjacking and the other was for vehicle theft and other charges, including narcotics violations, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.

Police claim before the shooting, Anaheim detectives visited Wal-Mart, the last place where Gonzalez worked, and asked anyone who saw him to call police. The officers were sent to the store after someone called reporting Gonzalez, Police said.

It is unclear how many shots were fired by police or how many officers fired their weapons killing Gonzalez.

Paramedics were called to treat Gonzalez, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Store spokesmen said.

The store was open at the time of the shooting, but no one else was injured.

Internal affairs detectives say there investigation shows that the responding officers tried using some other methods to take Gonzalez into custody. But apparently what ever those methods were they did not work and that's when the officers shot Gonzalez.
