Kids On Paper Director Brings Comic Books and Holiday Cheer to Children in Valley Hospitals

WHAT: "The 2007 Kids On Paper Holiday Cheer Project"

WHEN AND WHERE: Thurs., Dec. 13th at Valley Presbyterian Hospital (Van Nuys) and Thurs., Dec. 20th at Northridge Hospital (Northridge)

Wheelchair-bound director of Kids On Paper, Gary Cifra, and his co-director/new wife Patty, will bring gifts of comic books and graphic novels to young patients at hospitals around the San Fernando valley this holiday season.

Kids On Paper is a non-profit organization that reintroduces young people to the rich, vibrant medium of comics--a literary and artistic treasure trove--and encourages exploration of this art form as a means of creative self-expression as well as a highly accessible gateway to successful and rewarding career paths.

Director Gary Cifra founded Kids On Paper in 2003 to share his passion for stories told in one of the oldest forms of communication in the world. Gary's diagnosis of MS, which confines him to a wheelchair, has proven to be an encouragement rather than a disability, demonstrating to kids facing challenges in life that no matter what your circumstance, you can reach beyond your current hardship.

Gift deliveries begin Thursday, December 13th at Valley Presbyterian Hospital and continue through the end of December at various medical facilities throughout the valley. Comics and graphic novels for the 2007 KOP Holiday Cheer Project are donated by Golden Apple Comics in Northridge and Dark Horse Publishing in Milwaukie, Oregon.

Kids on Paper's recent events include Monsters On Paper, a Halloween art workshop given at Van Nuys Library.
