The California Fair Trade Coalition is seeking an executive director.

California’s Fair Trade Coalition (CFTC) seeks an Executive Director to further the goals of our organization. The CFTC is the California affiliate of the Citizens Trade Campaign, and is the leading state advocacy vehicle in the fight to replace NAFTA/WTO-style “free” trade with balanced fair trade policies.

We are a statewide collaboration of labor, environmental, family farm, religious, and civil society groups founded to improve on our current broken model of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) such as NAFTA and CAFTA. We are united in a common belief that international trade is not an end in itself, but as a means for achieving the societal goals of economic justice, human rights, healthy communities and a sound environment. We oppose current trade agreements tilted in favor of multinational corporations, and support fair trade principles that help working people.

The qualified candidate will have the skills to grow and maintain the CFTC, including a background in fundraising, media relations and coalition building. This leader will establish and maintain effective external relations with member groups, strategic allies, potential stakeholders, governmental bodies, student groups and foundations. CFTC seeks a 2-5 year commitment for this position.

The project director reports to the CFTC board of directors. He or she will have overall responsibility for the implementation of activities within the organization.
