McCarthy Building Companies of San Francisco, which also has offices and employees in Southern California is building a new animal torture facility in Berkeley.

Activists from the Bay Area are asking concerned individuals to help in creative ways with this campaign.

"McCarthy Building Companies of San Francisco (http://www.mccarthy.com/) is now seeking subcontractors for the Li-Ka-Shing Center, where thousands upon thousands of animals will suffer in vain. This facility would provide a seventy percent expansion of UC Berkeley's Northwest Animal Facility."

"UC Berkeley is planning demolition of Earl Warren Hall to make way for the 200,000-square-foot Li Ka-Shing Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences. This project will demolish Warren Hall and construct a larger facility to house interdisciplinary programs in new fields of research on the molecular mechanisms of disease, with a focus on cancer, the brain, infectious agents and stem cell biology. The building site encompasses the site of the existing Warren Hall on the west edge of Campus adjacent to the West Crescent. The approximate size of the facility will be 200,000 OGSF."
